Guaranteed-acceptance life insurance

Guaranteed-acceptance life insurance, also called guaranteed issue, asks no health questions, so your health cannot get you turned down within the age limits. In return, the full benefit usually does not start until the policy has been in force for 2 years.

No cost to talk. No obligation.

Nothing to lose by starting

Pay nothing until you're approved. Change your mind during your free-look period (at least 10 days, longer in many states) and get every dollar back.

One no isn't the end

Turned down before? If one company says no, we check the others at no charge. Guaranteed-acceptance plans ask no health questions (benefits are limited the first 2 years).

Insurance companies decide approval and pay claims. Plans and free-look periods vary by company and state.

Who it is for

  • People who have been turned down for other coverage
  • Anyone with serious health issues inside the age limits
  • People who want a plan with no health questions and accept the limited first 2 years

How it works

  1. A licensed agent first checks whether you can get a better policy with health questions
  2. If not, they compare guaranteed-acceptance plans open to your age and state
  3. They explain the first 2 years in plain words before you apply

Questions

What happens in the first 2 years?

If death is from natural causes in that time, most plans pay back the premiums paid plus some interest instead of the full benefit. Accidental death is usually covered in full. Each policy states its own terms.

Who can get one?

Each insurance company sets its own age limits, and plans are not offered in every state. Your agent can tell you what is open to you.

Should I start here?

Usually not. A policy with health questions can pay the full benefit sooner, so your agent checks those first.
